YCF Accepting Scholarship Applications for 2020-21 Academic Year
Morgantown, WV – Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia, Inc. (YCF) is accepting scholarship applications for the 2020-21 academic year. YCF oversees 36 diverse scholarship funds primarily to benefit students in North Central West Virginia. Some scholarships are designated for graduating seniors of certain schools or those who reside in particular counties. Others are awarded for specific fields of study such as music, veterinary practice or engineering. Most applications require financial need, an essay and letter of recommendation.
While the majority of YCF scholarships are for graduating high school seniors, some are available for those currently in college. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the scholarship descriptions on YCF website, www.ycfwv.org/scholarships/. Scholarship applications are completed online and are due March 2, 2020. Recipients will be announced in May.
“Start your application today,” recommends YCF President, Patty Showers Ryan. “Applicants will want to spend time on the essay and talk with one or two references to complete the recommendation section.” The online application allows students to save their application, so it does not need to be completed in one sitting.
YCF administers a wide variety of scholarships on behalf of many donors. For the 2019-20 academic year, YCF awarded over $260,000 in scholarships to 101 students across North Central West Virginia.
YCF’s mission is to promote philanthropy and build endowment funds to benefit our communities. Through financial resources, YCF extends many forms of assistance to qualified people, programs and projects. Primarily serving North Central West Virginia, YCF’s underlying goal is always to enhance the quality of life for those the organization serves.
